    Scary Story

Skill Level - Intermediate
  This tutorial was written using PSP X but should work
   in other versions with just a few adjustments.
   It was written in "split screen" format so that
   you can work on the tutorial with PSP open on one
   side of your screen and the tutorial on the other side.
Supplies Needed
    Filters Needed:
        Alien Skin Eye Candy 5: Nature HERE
        Mura's Seamless - HERE 
                  (used in letter background section only)
Supplies:  Click HERE
     All supplies needed will be provided for you.
     I encourage you to use tubes and backgrounds of your choice
     and make this your own "original" creation.

1.   File > New
         Settings: 800 x 600, your choice of resolution, transparent
      File > Open - open Alies102-Halloween-02092009
      Window > Duplicate - you may close your original
      Edit > Copy and minimize the tube
      Edit > Paste As New Layer
      Use your Move Tool to move tube to right side
2.   File > Open - open Halloween~book3.psp
      Window > Duplicate - you may close your original
      Edit > Copy and minimize the tube
      Edit > Paste As New Layer
      Use your Move Tool to move tube to lower left
3.   Activate your minimized copy of the book tube
       Image > Resize
         Settings: 800 x 600, Lock aspect ratio unchecked
                                               Resize all layers checked
       Edit > Copy and minimize
       Edit > Paste as New Layer onto your main image
           Note: It will cover most of the other tubes
4.    Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
           Setting: Default
        Adjust > Blur > Radial Blur
           Setting: Default
        Edit > Repeat Radial Blur
5.     Layers > Duplicate
        Image > Mirror
        In Layers Palette, change opacity to 50%
        Layers > Merge > Merge Down
        Image > Flip
6.     In Layers Palette, move this layer (Raster 4)  below the lady tube
        In Materials Palette,  use your Dropper Tool to choose
        a dark color from your tube.  
        I used #3d2e52 for my foreground color
        Activate your bottom blank layer
        Use Flood Fill Tool to fill this layer with your dark color.
           Note: You may add a texture to this layer if you wish.
7.     Activate your lady layer
         Layers > Duplicate
         In Layers Palette, choose the original layer of the lady tube
         Effects > Distortion Effects > Ripple
           Settings: Small Waves Left
                              30, 50, 70, 10, Repeat
          In Layers Palette, set Blend Mode on Color (Legacy)
           or setting of your choice
8.    In Layers Palette, Activate copy of your lady tube 
       Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel 
          Settings:   Bevel #2
                               8, 0, 1, 0, 0, White, 315, 50, 30
       Edit > Repeat Inner Bevel 
       Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
          Settings: 4, 4, 60, 2, Black
       Edit > Repeat Drop Shadow
       Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
9.    Image > Add Borders
         Setting: 2 pixels of black
       Selections > Select All
       Selections > Modify > Contract
           Setting: 2 pixels
       Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
           Settings: 0, 0, 100, 25, black
       Selections > Select None
       Use your Pick Tool to choose a reddish-orange color for
         the outer border and the "drips".  I used #c32724
         and set that as my background color
       Image > Add Borders
            Settings: 20 pixels of this chosen color
       Use your Magic Wand to select this border
10.  Effects > Alien Skin Eye Candy 5: Nature > Drip
           1. Click on the Settings Tab. 
               Scroll down and choose  Small Streaks
               It should now look like this.  Do not apply yet.
           2. Click on the Drip Tab. 
               Change the Drip Length  to 111.81 or your choice
                It should now look like this.
 11.  Optional Step - adding another Drip setting
         You can add a second Drip effect.  One suggestion below.
          Effects > Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 > Nature > Drip
          Click on the Melt Tab.
          Change Pooling to 36 and Apply
          You'll now have 2 Drip effects
12.  Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel - same settings
       Selections > Select None
        Image > Add Borders
          Setting: 2 pixels of  black or dark color.  I used #3d2e52
        Add text of your choice or use the Word Art provided.
         If using mine, it already has a bevel and drop shadow.
         I resized it to 85%.  Just Resize, Edit>Copy and Paste
         as New Layer on your main image and move into place.
        Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
 13.  Resize image to your preference, add a new layer for
         your watermark and export as a jpeg
Optional Background
     Settings remain the same unless noted to change
  1.  Activate the lady tube
       Image > Resize
        Settings:  85%, both boxes checked
       Effects > Distortion Effects > Ripple
       Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
       Effects > Distortion Effects > Ripple
  2.  Layers > Add a New Raster Layer
       Flood Fill with color of your choice from tubes.
          I used the reddish-orange color 
         In Layers Palette, change Blend Mode to Overlay
          Then select the bottom layer and change Opacity to 36
         Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
         Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
          Minimize this pattern
  3.    In Materials Palette, select this pattern as your foreground
           Settings: Angle 0, Scale 100
         File > New
            Settings:  Width of your screen resolution.  I used 1400.
                               Height: 400, Transparent
         Flood Fill with the pattern
         Effects > MuRa's Seamless > Shift At Random
            Setting: Default
         Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
            Settings:  Edge, Vertical, Width 50, Transition 50
  4.   Layers > Add a New Raster Layer
        Flood Fill with your reddish-orange color
            and set Blend Mode on Color (Legacy)
            Adjust opacity of either layer to your liking 
        Merge Visible
        Export with JPEG Optimized - suggested setting of 30
