This tutorial was written using PSP X but should work
in other versions with just a few adjustments.
It was written in "split screen" format so that
you can work on the tutorial with PSP open on one
side of your screen and the tutorial on the other side.

Supplies needed will be provided for you.
I encourage you to use a tube of your choice
and make this your own "original" creation.

     Word Art_Roni

Supplies -

1.   Open your tube; duplicate and close the original

Note: The tube I'm using is 337 x 439 pixels.

If using a different tube, you will need to resize at

different settings later in the tutorial.

If you are going to make a letter background, make a second

copy of the tube and minimize it for later.

Choose 2 colors from your tube

I used #99363f for dark foreground color and #da9cac

       for light background color

      Layers > New Raster Layer

Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

Flood fill this layer with your light color

      Effects > Plugins > I.C.Net Software Filters Unlimited 2.0

        Paper Textures

        Choose texture of your choice

I used Japanese Paper - Intensity changed to 50

      Select your tube layer

      Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel

      Settings:  Bevel #2

                      8, 0, 1, 0, 0, White, 315, 50, 30

      Edit > Repeat Inner Bevel

Use Move Tool to move tube down so stem touches bottom

      Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

      Settings:  3, 3, 50, 30, Black

Repeat Drop Shadow with -3, -3

Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

2.   Image > Add Borders

Settings: 2 pxs, your dark color, symmetric

      Selections > Select All

      Selections > Modify > Contract - 2 pxs

      Effects > 3D > Cutout

      Settings:  0, 0, 100, 25, Black

      Selections > Select None

      Image > Add Borders

Settings: 10 pxs, your light color, symmetric

      Image > Add Borders

Settings: 2 pxs, your dark color, symmetric

      Effects > Plugins > I.C.Net Software Filters Unlimited 2.0

      Buttons & Frames > Glass Frame 1

        Change Frame Size to 30

      Edit > Copy and minimize

3.   File > New

      Settings:  600px x 600px, transparent

Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer

      Image > Resize

      Settings: 75%  all layers unchecked

Effects > Plugins > MuRa Meister > Copies

In lower left corner change Preset to Star Cluster

      Change Scale to 248

      OK

Be patient; you may have to wait for it to load

Watch the green bar at the bottom of PSP

     Layers > Duplicate

Image > Flip  change Opacity of this layer to 50%

Layers > Merge > Merge Down

Effects > Edge Effects > Enhance

4.  Edit > Paste As New Layer

Note:  Your framed image should still be on clipboard.

                If not, just recopy it

Image > Resize  Settings: 60%  all layers unchecked

Note:  If using a different size tube you may need to change

the percentage  when you do the next step.

See screenshot below for how it should fit.

     Effects > Plugins > MuRa's Meister > Copies

     Settings: Preset - Cards

     OK

      Note: If needed after processing

use your move tool to move slightly to the

right to center it horizontally, not vertically

     Layers > Duplicate

     Image > Flip

     Image > Mirror

Layers > Arrange > Move Down

5.  Effects > Plugins > Filter Factory J

Setting:  Twister - default setting of 121

     Layers > Duplicate

Image > Mirror - change opacity of this layer to 50%

Layers > Merge > Merge Down

     Make your top layer active

Use your Move Tool to move it up to the top

In Layer Palette, click on the eye to shut off this layer

In Layer Palette, make your copy layer active

     Layers > Duplicate

     Image > Flip

Adjust > Sharpness >Unsharp Mask - default setting

     Activate the lower copy layer

Use your Move Tool to move it almost all the way to

        the bottom of your image

Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow - negative settings

     Activate the upper copy layer

Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow - negative settings

Use your Move Tool to move this layer down so that

it sits a little above the lower copy

Layers > Merge > Merge Down

In Layer Palette, click on eye of top layer to open it and

         make it the active layer

At this time you can move this layer if needed
      (see example at top)

     Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel

     Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Repeat Drop Shadow  with + 3 settings

6.  File > Open

     Open Word Art _ Roni

Close the white layer and activate the text layer

     Edit > Copy

Edit > Paste as New Layer

Use Move Tool to move text into place at the bottom

At this point, you can adjust the opacity of any of the layers

or add effects to any layers to make it more to your liking.

Or you can leave it as it is.

For the background layer, options I liked were:

        Reducing opacity - I used 79%

Effects > Art Media Effects > Brush Strokes

        Default settings

Screenshot - Optional change with Brush Strokes

            for a softer look

Note: If you want to make a side border background for a letter,

make a copy of your background layer at this time.

Just do Edit > Copy and Edit > Paste as New Image

               and minimize

Layers Merge > Merge All  on your original

7.  Image > Add Borders

     Settings: 1 px black

     Selections > Select All

     Selections > Modify > Contract

     Settings: 1 pixel

     Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout - same settings

     Selections > Select None

     Image > Add Borders

Settings:  10 pxs of light color

Use your Magic Wand to select the border

Apply a Texture of your choice

I used the FU2 Japanese texture I used earlier in the tut

Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel   (same settings)

     Selections > Select None

     Image > Add Borders

     Settings: 1 px of black

Image > Resize    to your liking

As I'm using this as a header with a background, I resized

it to 525 pixels in height.

Add a layer for your watermark and Export in JPEG Optimizer.

     Optional Background

1.  Activate your stargazer tube or tube you are using

Note: Resizing in this step may be adjusted for different tube

Image > Resize - resize to  a maximum width of 150 pixels

     Image > Canvas Size

Settings: 1300 pixels Width (or to your liking)

225 pixels in Height (adjust for other tubes)

                      Center Left Arrow

Effects > 3D Settings > Inner Bevel - same settings

     Effects > 3D Settings > Drop Shadow

     Settings:  2, 2, 50, 5, black

     Repeat with -2 v/h settings

2.  Open the background pattern you copied at Step 6

Note: If you adjusted opacity earlier, change back to 100%

Effects > Art Media Effects > Brush Strokes

       Default Setting

Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

     Layers > New Raster Layer

Flood fill with one of your colors (I used light color)

Adjust opacity to 57% or to your liking

Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

     Minimize this image

In Material Palette, set background to pattern and select

     this pattern you just made

     Settings: Angle 0, Scale 100

 3. Go back to your other image

     Layers > New Raster Layer

Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

Flood fill this layer with your pattern

Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

Layers > Merge > Merge All

File > Export in JPEG Optimizer
