FABRIC MAT FOR A PICTURE

 

 

Supplies needed: A pretty image to frame, AAA filters: Transparent Frame: Filters Unlimited: Paper Textures; Filter named "Textures": Patchwork

Open your image  & copy it twice.  Close your original.  Use one copy as your workplace.  Copy again. This will put your image in memory.

 

To put a thin back line around the image:
Effects, AAA Filters, Transparent Frame, 0, check Stroke.

 

MAT
Put a large border around the image for a mat:
Image, Add Borders, white, check Symmetric, 102 pixels

 

Magic Wand, click in white mat. Ctrl+Shift+L and paste image into mat. (It should be in memory as you copied it in the beginning.  If it is not take original and copy it)
Keep selected until further notice.

 


To your Plug-Ins and to Textures: Patchwork, 4, 8.  This is NOT the texture filter in PSP.  It is actually called Textures.

 Now, let's change this mat into fabric:
Effects, I.C.Net Software, Filters Unlimited 2, Paper Textures, Canvas Fine. Hold down Alt while you hit Apply about 9 x, then release Alt and hit Apply one more time.

 

To lighten the mat:
Effects, I.C.Net Software, Filters Unlimited 2, Color Filters, Sunshine. Hold down Alt while you click Apply 1x, then release repeat the above one more time.

 

Apply a thin black line around the mat:
Effects, AAA Filters, Transparent Frame, 0, check Stroke.

 

SHADOW
Place a shadow so that the matted image appears to be sunken:
Effect, 3D Effects, Drop Shadow, 5, 2, 50, black, uncheck Shadow..., then repeat with -5, -2, 50, black, uncheck Shadow.  Now you can deselect.

 

FRAME 1
To put a narrow frame around the mat:
Image, Add Borders, white, check Symmetric, 8 pixels

 

Magic Wand, click in Frame 1. Ctrl+Shift+L to paste your copy of the image into Frame 1. Keep selected until further notice.

 

BLUR
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur, 80.

 

To turn Frame 1 into fabric:
Effects, I.C.Net Software, Filters Unlimited 2, Paper Textures, Canvas Fine. Hold down your Alt button when you hit Apply . Repeat one more time.

 

To lighten Frame 1:
Effects, I.C.Net Software, Filters Unlimited 2, Color Filters, Sunshine. Hold down your Alt button  when you hit Apply. Repeat once more.

 

To put a thin black line around Frame 1:
Effects, AAA Filters, Transparent Frame, 0, check Stroke.

 

FRAME 2
Image, Add Borders, white, check Symmetric, 4.

 

Magic Wand, click in frame 2. Effects, Alien Skin Eye Candy 5 Impact, Chrome. Choose a setting that you like.  I chose "night"..

 

Once more add a thin black line around Frame 2:
Effects, AAA Filters, Transparent Frame, 0, check Stroke.

 

Sign it & Save.
